Dima- Hasao floods

Dima-Hasao is a central Assam Hill district which is located 473 km from Dibrugarh,275 km from Guwahati,266 km from Dispur(cap of assam),500 km Dhaka(cap of bangladesh),421 km from Imphal(cap of manipur).

Its a Hilly area which attracts tourists and it is also called Dima hills.

What happened with this area?

Faced Heavy pre-monsoon rain from mid -may.

Average rainfall from march-mid may=434.5mm.

After Mid-may -719 mm.

Destruction was not only caused by rains but also hill-slides(landslides).

Why this area is an lifeline?

-Connects southern assam, manipur to rest of country.

-The Railway line which is devastated due to this was a major connectivity to all north-eastern states and goods train use to run from March 2015.

-Dima -Hasao line also links the Jiribam-Imphal railway line in manipur which was a dream project of Government of India to boost the development of North east is also affected.

Though we cannot judge natures capabilities and catastrophic activities, still let us find the cause of this :-

1- Climate change-Because of this there are concentrated and heavy rainfall in one area.

2- This area has seen heavy Construction and development both of public Infra and private property backed by massive deforastration for construction of Railway line and 4 lane Highways.

The question arises again SAVE NATURE VS BUILD INFRA for better development and Survival of People.what do you think?
